Our mission

Sending Postcards exists to make it easier to keep in touch with the people you love.

Nothing says you are thinking of someone like taking the time to sit down and write to them, and postcards and letters still matter for that reason. A postcard can be a small thing, but it carries a sense of place and a sense of effort. You chose it, you wrote it, you sent it, and in doing so you gave someone a little piece of where you are.

The trouble is that sending something from abroad is not always straightforward. Finding the right stamp, working out where to post it, and understanding how the local system works can be surprisingly unclear, especially when you are travelling. Our aim is to make that part simple. We bring the key information together in one place so you can spend less time second guessing and more time writing to the people who matter.

What you’ll find here

Each country page is laid out in the same way, so you can find what you need quickly:

Stamps: where to buy stamps locally and what you need for sending a postcard or letter internationally.

Posting: how to post your mail in that country, including the best places to drop it off and what to look for.

Delivery: what the postal service publishes about delivery times and service options, so you know what to expect.

Restrictions: local rules, prohibited items guidance, and anything that commonly causes delays or returns.

Official Sources: Direct links to the postal operator and supporting sources, so you can quickly check the most current information when you need to

How we keep the information accurate

We build each country page using official postal operator information and other reliable sources, and we link to those sources so you can see where details come from. We do not publish guesses or filler. When something cannot be confirmed, we leave it out. Pages are reviewed and updated over time, and each guide shows when it was last checked.

If you spot something that needs updated, we would be grateful if you let us know. Community suggestions help keep the site accurate and make it easier for more people to stay in touch from wherever they are. Visit the Contribute page if you would like to request a country that is not yet included, or if you have information and sources that could help us add or improve a country page.
